Google Adsense Targeting

Thanks for your email regarding your ad targeting. We've provided some information below which we hope will address your question. As you know, you can also find instant answers to some of our top questions in theAdSense Help Centre at http://www.google.com/adsense/support.

If you still have unresolved issues after looking through this material, please replyto this email and we'll be happy to help you further.-

How does Google target ads to my page?

The ads we display on a webpage are determined automatically by our systembased on a number of factors such as the page content, linguistics, keyword analysis, word frequency, font size, and the overall linkstructure of the web.

Can I choose which ads to display on my site, using keywords? I'd liketo display ads which are complementary to my site.

Please keep in mind that the ads displayed on a web page are determinedautomatically by our system based on the overall content of that page, notkeywords or categories. At this time, we cannot manually alter thetargeting of the ads displayed on your site.If you'd like to display ads related to a specific topic on your website,we recommend including more text-based content about these topics, including complete sentences and paragraphs, to assist our crawlers ingathering information about your pages and determining relevant ads todisplay. Please note that it may take up to 1 or 2 weeks before anychanges you make have an effect on your ad targeting.

Why am I seeing ads not related to my site content?

Your ads may not be targeted to your content for a number of reasons:

1. Your web page may not contain enough text-based content. There may not be enough information on your site for our crawlers toidentify relevant ads to show on your pages. We recommend including morecomplete sentences and paragraphs on your site, and also implementingsection targeting - instructions are available athttps://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=23168 .

2. Our system may not have crawled your pages yet. When you update a page, it may take up to 2 weeks before the changes arereflected in our index. You may wish to use the Site Diagnostics page inyour account, which provides details about whether our crawler was able toaccess your site. If the table on your Site Diagnostics page says "Youcurrently have no blocked URLs" and you'd still like to improve therelevance of your ads, please visit:http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=43998 . Ifyou're seeing "Robots.txt file" or "URL not found" errors in the table, please visit:http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=37091 .

3. Your site may be primarily in an unsupported language. We're currently only able to provide ad targeting for the languages listed at http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=9727 ,Placing your ad code on pages in an unsupported language usually results in untargeted ads or PSAs.

4. Your site may contain non-family safe content. We currently have certain filters in place, and our system does not targetcontent which it determines to be potentially sensitive, negative, ormature. Although we cannot manually alter the targeting of the adsdisplayed on your site, please know that our system may be able to delivermore relevant ads as your page content changes,You may wish to use our Troubleshooting Wizards, located herehttps://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=27564. Inaddition, you might find the information at https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py\?answer=43998 useful.
