MY MALL & NEWS
Coding Your Web Site

Your First Web Site

I built My Mall & News using Allaire HomeSite 4.5, but there are many other products that are available, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, FrontPage Express, and Adobe GoLive. Professional programmers like these products, because they can be used to develop web sites quickly. However, the JavaScript code that gets generated is often bloated, unwieldy, redundant, difficult to read, and hard to modify by hand. There's no better way to learn HTML from bottom up. And it isn't hard. So that's what we'll do.
To create your first web page, cut the following HTML text into Notepad or Word:

<html>
<head>
<title>Untitled</title>
</head>
<body>
<A HREF="http://www.mymallandnews.com">My First Web Site</a>
</body>
</html>

Save the document with a suffix of .html or .htm. Open the page on your browser. You should see in the top right side of the browser the words "My First Web Site." Click on it. It should take you to mymallandnews.com.
Congratulations! You've built your first web page! Reward yourself by visiting our candy cybermall!
We'll build on this page, expanding our knowledge as we go.
