Porridge







For each cup of milk, use 2 level tablespoons of any coarse cereal, such as rice, corn-meal, cracked wheat, oatmeal or barley, and 2 level tablespoons any sweetening, such as sugar, syrup, honey, or malasses; flavor with nutmeg, cinnamon or any spice, and season with salt. Put flavored and seasoned milk in double boiler, or if large amount is being prepared, put in kettle; add cereal and sweetening and cook about 1 hour without covering.
